My Home Church
I got to visit my “home” church last night, which was fantastic. I always love going to visit them, because it is where I first encountered the power of God, where I asked Jesus into my life, and where I received God’s call to be a pastor. It will always hold a special place in my heart for all of the good memories. It also reminds me of my roots and my heritage; helping to make me the man that I am today.
My heart raced as I spoke with many of the members. A few of them were new, some of them watched me grow up, and a couple of them were old friends. All-in-all, I departed from there a very happy man.
Can I be frank? I’ve always wanted to pastor my “home” church. Sure, Jesus states that it is difficult for a person to minister to the people of his hometown, but deep down I’ve always felt a longing to pastor them and to help them and to change the surrounding communities. Has any other pastor felt this way about his/her hometown?

More power to you bro if that’s in your heart. NEVER crossed mine. LOL
It would have surprised me if the idea had crossed your mind. Never saw you as the stay in your hometown type.
My passion for the church stems from my belief that the place was meant for something great, but never had a leader to take them there. It reached it’s peak in the summer of 2002. God gave the word that they were ready to go to the next level if they would push through, but it never happened. My guess would be that the leadership never pursued it so the people didn’t either.
