Obedience Vs Sacrifice
So, our last day at Restoration Ministries was phenomenal. God showed up in a big and a fantastic way. It had been a long time since I was able to simply enjoy a service at RM without the pressures of performing a job. I forgot how much I missed that.
During the time of worship, God reminded me of a simple truth. 1 Samuel 15:22 states,
“To obey is better than sacrifice.”
Sure, pastors throughout the world teach/preach on this verse, but God reminded me of why this is truth. Sacrifice doesn’t require one to be obedient, but obedience requires sacrifice. It’s kind of like a 2-for-1 to God. By being obedient, you must also sacrifice.
But the bigger issue at hand is faith. Without faith it is impossible to please God, and obedience demands faith. Without faith, a person cannot and will not obey God. Sure, sacrifice is good, but it can be done outside of having faith and obedience.
So, I guess the choice remains that which one to choose, obedience or sacrifice?

When what you give means less to you than what you get in return, it isn’t a “sacrifice” but a net gain.
